Has anyone out there done a engine swap into the old Ram 1990 4x4 automatic
I have a 318/EFI that is very under powered
I know a 360 will mount up , then stroke it, but would like to do a modern Hemi for the cool factor.
how much pain am I getting into?

Thanks

I have not installed a new hemi into an old ram but I have retrofitted my 1968 Cuda. I have owned a 1989 Ram so from what I remember. The engine will bolt right up to the trans. You need a different flex plate. I don't remember if you have a 727 or an A518 overdrive. If you have a non lockup 727 it would be easyest. I think the stock hemi manifolds would fit with a custom exhaust. The motor mounts would need to be made. You should be able to use all of the stock accsys on a 5.7L. If it was carbureted all you would need for the engine to fun is the MSD hemi 6 and the stock coils. I was trying to help someone else out on this forum do the exact same thing on a later ram but he had alot more to change.

5.7L Hemi, CNC ported heads with oversize valves, 11-1 compression ratio, Custom Comp Cam, Custom Ross pistons, Eagle rods, 6.1L crank, Dual quads, Cryo treated rockertrain with custom rocker locks and hold downs, Remote mounted coils with MSD Hemi6, SOON TO COME 150hp N2O, ETC, ETC in a 68 cuda
