I used to own a 1968 HEMI Road Runner with 12.5:1 cr and a healthy mechanincal cam (see youtube, search for hemi and huppertz).
My question is this, are the GEN III engines capable of the same horsepower efficiencies as the GEN II hemi's are? I mean, are the blocks sturdy enough for 2k horsepower? Are the heads as good or better than Gen II? I ask because I am trying to decide what platform to start with. I know how to make a Gen I and II HEMI run, but I don't want to live in the past if the new stuff os just as good or better..
Thanks,
Mark

My 5.7L runs 12.60@110.8 The converter is way too tight so my 60' time is in the 2.070 range. Check out my profile on www.motortopia.com look up hemijoejr. I have an entire buildup of my hemi. My ported 5.7L intake ports are flowing over 300cfm at .600 lift but I'm afraid to push the stock rockers (they are a bit on the dainty side for me!!) so I kept the lift at .557 and .560. No one makes an afordable roller rocker setup for these engines yet. (I said afordable, Jesel makes a rocker setup that runs around $4000) Keep in mind I have a pump gas naturaly aspirated street car with a 345 cid hemi that is pushing a 3600lb car 110.8 mph and there is more power available, I just havn't harnessed it yet!!! I don't know if the block will handle 2000hp though it should be up there. Everything is just expensive as the gen 2 stuff or worse because parts are either few and far between or custom made. The 6.1 heads flow very well, I would say damn close to a 426 head. It just depends if you want to be different by building a gen 3

5.7L Hemi, CNC ported heads with oversize valves, 11-1 compression ratio, Custom Comp Cam, Custom Ross pistons, Eagle rods, 6.1L crank, Dual quads, Cryo treated rockertrain with custom rocker locks and hold downs, Remote mounted coils with MSD Hemi6, SOON TO COME 150hp N2O, ETC, ETC in a 68 cuda
