There is alot that would need to be changed!! Flex plate, exhaust, I don't know if the motor mounts would fit? You would need a rear sump pan and pick up off of a 5.7L truck engine. You would also need the front timing chain cover and water pump from the 5.7 as well. The problem with that is the stock intake on a 6.1L won't work with the accy mountings on a truck 5.7L unless there is something I don't know. (it has happened before it will happen again!!) The 46re trans will bolt right up but needs input from the computer to shift so something will have to be done about the electronics, not only for the trans but also for the engine. I forgot about emissions as well. The easyest way to do this swap if you arn't woried about emissions, in my opinion, (take it for what it is) If you used a 5.7L out of a truck (stock or modified), changed the flexplate, got the motor mounts to fit. The fan should line up with the shroud, some exhaust work and the engine is in. You need to monkey around with radiator hoses, heater hoses, A/C lines, power steering lines and resevoir, computers and wiring, vaccume lines, air filter, and you might have to put a remote oiling kit on it? (I don't know how much room there is for the oil filter) It is an extensive ordeal and there are probably 100 ways to do it. I did the LA engine to Hemi swap in my cuda. That was an ordeal and I didnt have to wory as much about the electronic end of it. The only thing is at the end of it all, It's really cool to have a HEMI!!!!! Joe

5.7L Hemi, CNC ported heads with oversize valves, 11-1 compression ratio, Custom Comp Cam, Custom Ross pistons, Eagle rods, 6.1L crank, Dual quads, Cryo treated rockertrain with custom rocker locks and hold downs, Remote mounted coils with MSD Hemi6, SOON TO COME 150hp N2O, ETC, ETC in a 68 cuda

In my opinion, Yes. For these reasons, Plentifull, Cheaper, The accessories are in the right place (truck timing chain cover), You can use an engine driven thermostatic fan, and you might be able to use latest model truck headers? May fit? Mabe even the stock air box? That might fit too? If this is for an everyday driver, the least amount of modifications usually ends up being the most reliable and easyest to get parts for. It would be great to walk into any auto parts store in some nowhere town and say I need a fan clutch for a 2004 dodge ram with a 5.7L hemi and they could get it for you instead if waiting for some special order electric fan or sender that will take 3 days to get. Again just my opinion. Joe
