Sam U. Hits 195 MPH at the Texas Mile

ShopHEMI is excited to announce that Sam U., of Houston Texas, has posted a personal best top speed of 195 miles per hour in the standing mile. Sam, who is better know as “Hemisam” to LC forum members, has gained notoriety by becoming the world's first late model 6-speed Challenger driver to run a quarter mile in the 10s during a competition. Sam utilized an Arrington 392 stroker motor and an Arrington modified Magnuson supercharger to produce his power. Since recording his October 15th, 2011 record setting E.T. of 10.9582 at Lone Star Raceway Park, Sam has been preparing his Deep Water Blue Challenger to run the standing quarter mile at the world famous Texas Mile.

Leading up to race weekend, Sam had set a goal of breaking the 190 MPH barrier at the Beeville event. Employing nitrous, changing to a 3.92 gear, and taping his front end were just a few of Sam's race preparations. On Saturday morning his efforts allowed him to achieve a top speed of 193.8 miles per hour, thereby besting his standing mile top speed goal. However, his youngest son missed his fathers pass because he did not arrive at the event until later that day. Encouraged by his sons peals, Sam decided to make another high speed run on Sunday to please his boy. With his son cheering him on, just before eleven o’clock in the morning, Sam launched his Challenger and floored it down the paved runway. That run turned out to be Sam's blistering 195 mile per hour pass.
