NASCAR in Martinsville
After long months of preparation and hard work by people here in Martinsville, NASCAR came to the Speedway for the spring races. The world famous paper-clip track, in our backyard, is the favorite of many drivers, teams and fans. The Kroger 250 truck race was dominated by Mike Skinner, but Kenny Schrader finished a solid 12th in the #18 Fastenal Dodge with our own Arrington blueprinted R5P7 engine. Chase Miller, in the #4 Open Joist Dodge, also powered by Arrington, finished strong after showing off his spin-outs and our mechanic, Steve Morgan, replaced a smoking hot transmission. The Goody's Cool Orange 500 was dominated by teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. Although they were not the crowd favorites, the Martinsville fans enjoyed a good race, and only had to withstand one rain delay of 20 minutes. The only mystery is who stole the #48 crew's helmets from the pits during the post-race celebrations on the start/finish line.
