Your new challenger was all you could want. Its HEMI power plant gave you awesome throttle response and plenty of classic American muscle car feel. Now it is time for more power. Maybe you have added a cold air intake or an exhaust to get more rumble from your HEMI but still don’t have the feel you are looking for. After a bit of research you have found that the new HEMI engines from Chrysler have VVT or Variable Valve Timing technology that allows the camshaft to move in real time. COMP Cams has designed a line of aftermarket HEMI specific cams that works with the VVT technology. These patent pending HEMI Phaser Camshafts by Comp Cams utilize phaser limiters or locks to fully utilize the Dodge Charger and Challenger’s VVT technology, which allows the camshaft to increase torque in the low end of the HEMI engine while maintaining power at the top end of the RPM and speed range.

These hydraulic roller cams are carved from billet cores and are engineered tough enough to handle the demands 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI drag race engines while still providing the controlled throttle response needed for the most scrupulous daily driver. Comp Cams advertises a unique, no valve spring change design that maintains required piston to valve clearance to safely operate over the life of the HEMI Engine without changing the factory cylinder head internals while still utilizing VVT. Arrington Performance agrees with their assessment but based on their installation experience recommends an upgrade to PSI springs enabling higher lift and increased reliability from Comp’s performance lobes.

These cams are perfect for late model Dodge Challengers, Dodge Chargers, Chrysler 300s, SRT8 Jeeps, Dodge trucks and Mopar crate engines equipped with VVT. The camshafts are available at Arrington Performance in three different off-the-shelf grinds dependent upon engine type for improved performance over OEM options.
