Fitzsimmons Wins Stock Title At NHRA Gatornationals

Arrington HEMI Racing Technology Helps Racers Win

The Arrington Powered, 2010 Dodge Drag Pac Challenge won both the class and division in Florida. Driver Charlie Fitzsimmons got his first National event win by running a 9.928 ET in the last round of the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals. The Larry Pontnack and Larry Griffith co-owned 2010 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak that Charlie drove in his Gainesville victory is sponsored by Arrington Performance and ShopHEMI.com. Charlie's Gatornational win is another example of how Arrington HEMI racing technology helps racers win. The following is a press release that details Fitzsimmons' Stock class win at the 43rd Annual NHRA Gatornationals.

After scoring a win in the A/SA class in Stock Eliminator on the opening day of the 43rd Annual NHRA Gatornationals at Auto Plus Raceway at Gainesville (Fla.), Charlie Fitzsimmons wrapped up the rain-delayed event on Monday, March 12 in the winner’s circle, taking the overall Stock class win in his 2010 Mopar City Mopar Challenger Drag Pak.

"It means everything to win a Wally," said Larry Pontnack, who along with Larry Griffith co-owns the Mopar Challenger Drag Pak that Fitzsimmons drives. "Larry and I have been teamed up for 45 years and we finally got ourselves a Wally. We couldn’t have done this without all of the great people at Mopar who help us out."

Fitzsimmons, who was the No. 2 qualifier in the 73-car Stock Eliminator field, had a bye in the first round of eliminations. The Mopar-powered racer then downed Jeremy Preston, Todd Ewing and Mike McGinley to set up a semifinals match-up with fellow Mopar Challenger Drag Pak competitor Jeff Teuton.

Fitzsimmons would win the battle with Teuton to punch his ticket to the final round. The native of Chattanooga, Tenn. used a pass of 9.928-seconds in the final to pick up the victory over Chris Stephenson, which marked his first national triumph.
